Absolutely Training
Absolutely Training, a leading online e-learning provider, has launched a free training course to help businesses prepare for the smokefree legislation.
From 1st July 2007 it will be against the law to smoke in virtually all substantially enclosed public places and workplaces. Employers will need to implement appropriate procedures to ensure that employees and others refrain from smoking and are aware of the new smokefree law.
Rachel Dineley, a partner in the employment group at national law firm, Beachcroft LLP, said “Many employers have already taken steps to address the forthcoming smoking ban. Those who have not yet done so should be putting in place appropriate policies, in consultation with staff and their representatives. They need to consider how they will strike the balance between encouragement not to smoke and penalties for those who repeatedly break the rules “
The training course is designed to raise awareness of the new smokefree legislation and ensure employees know what their responsibilities are. Available online, managers and employees benefit from training that is
- highly relevant and practical
- offers clear explanation and guidance
- quick and convenient
- can be used as an ongoing reference tool
The course can be delivered as off-the-shelf or customised to include as little as a company logo or detailed information such as organisational smokefree polices.
Paul Fegan, Chief Executive of Absolutely Training said, “I am pleased that Absolutely Training have been able to develop this free course, which I believe will make it easier for employers to explain the implications of the legislation and the practical impact this will have on an employee's right to smoke at work. This is a potentially contentious change, and by explaining it carefully it should be easier to manage the transition to a smoke free work place."
The course compliments the existing suite of employment law courses which Absolutely Training offer in conjunction Beachcroft LLP.
